Best handloads for rem. 710 30/06
« on: February 21, 2008, 01:37:41 PM »
I won a Rem. 710 30/06 at a whitetails unlimited banquet.  Sounds like gun is not very good, so probably won't get anything for in trade in.  I guess I will keep it.  I was wondering if anybody else had on and what good handloads they shoot or factory loads.  Thanks

It was free so take it out and shoot the snot out of it, you may end up liking it. The few I've shot were very accurate, the shortcomings are that bolt and that stock but with that said, they'll fill the freezer. The ones I shot also liked ANY and ALL ammo fed thru them, so try off the shelf ammo from a store. I believe we tried 150grain Remmy core lokt and federal 150grain powershok or whatever their cheapest box is for 15.00. American Eagle 150grain FMjs shot the best and were the cheapest at the time. Not saying your barrel will react the same but there's a good chance it may.

You could sell it labeled as New in the Classifieds section, you may get more than you think. But if you're rifleless at this time, mind as well hit the range and try her out. Oh and they kick real good so if you're sensitive to recoil, be prepared. I'm spoiled by 13lb .308 rifles so the .270 and .30-06 710s I shot while prone were not pleasant  :D

Thanks, I don't have a big game gun like it so I will probably keep it. Thanks for the info.
