35 rem for black bear?

Anyone have any experience hunting black bear with this caliber? Just picked one up and was planning on using it for bear.

200 grain Remington Corelokt factory load in the boiler room and ......you are done with the hunt.

I have a couple of .35's and have shot quite a few deer with the .35 Remington, as have many friends who have them. I have not personally shot a bear with mine but know others who have. No problem, the .35 Remington is a GREAT black bear gun....<><....:)

MMMMMMM!!!!! Bear samwiches. Go get em. But seriously, the .35 Remington will do the trick. Shot placement is cridical as with any load for bear.

there isn't alot of things I would be afraid to shoot in the lower 48 with my 35 and a handful of 200 grainers

The Remingtons shoot fine out of my Marlin 336 but my all time favorites for that gun are the old tried and true Winchester Silver Tips, for everything....<><....:)

Been shooting silvertips for forty years in my 336. .30/30  Tried the Remingtons and didn't care for them.  Seems they'd punch a pencil hole through a deer and off I'd go tracking.  Never had a problem with the Winchesters.  Same shot placement put them down.

Many years ago my first wife and I got divorced and she ended up with the Marlin 336 in .35 Rem.  That was in Fairbanks, AK.  I saw her four years later and she told me that someone had borrowed the rifle and used it to bag a grizzly up in the Brooks Range.  Blackies should be no problem!

Hello to all! Just acquired a 336 in .35 Rem, thanx to the Big guy here, & was wondering if Remington makes a load using their bronze-point bullet. Of course I'll be using the Winchester Silvertips, but I thought I'd try these, too. Any help will be appreciated. Thanx, jd45

Do you mean copper? You got to be careful to make sure the tips are round or gummy tips before using them in a lever.

No the Remington Bronze Point if it's even still being made would NOT be appropriate. You must use ONLY round nose lead or flat point lead bullets or the new Hornady factory ammo with the soft rubber tips in these lever guns.

Haven't heard anyone mention the old remington bronze points for years. Don't believe they have been produced for at least 25years, maybe more. Regards, Byron

We had 14 guys in bear camp last year and if I remember correctly, all but 3 carried a .35 Remington.......one had a 30.30, one had a .270, and one carried a 45.70.......

Haven't seen factory ammo in bronze points in a long time, but midway lists them available as components in 30 cal.

This is a happy hunter and his older Winchester carbine.

I'm certain that your 35 will take a bear down.  Remington 200 grain ammo is still a first rate product.
