sabot slugs are a pistol bullet in sabot pushed at the max (or a little faster) they are designed for, the bullet opens quickly and tranfers a lot of energy to the target they work like lighting on thin skinned game like deer I myself would be concerned that they would come a part to soon on a large heavy boned animal and not penatrate to the vitals of a buffalo ,bear or ever large hog. I would feel better on game like that with brenneke mags or dixie slugs
