Years ago I shot a lot of wild hogs on the ranch where I'm now retired on with a Sako vixen in 222 rem. and a steel tubed 6x weaver. Worked pretty good. Of course by today's standards it was inferior but Jack recommended them so I had one.
even shot them in the headlights of my truck.
A few years later in the southern Rockies my son dropped that rifle off Black mountain. I replaced it with a identical Sako and another weaver 6x this time in 222 rem.
why fix something that's working. I was a little more flush so I took that rifle to a El Paso gunsmith & had him slim up that wide forend and put a nice snobel forend and rechecked it along with a thin rubber bad. Bog was that a nice outfit for varmints. With the heavier barrel it seemed to hang so nice for off hand shooting.
Anyway I was thinking maybe a weaver 6x is all I really ever needed.
