Nothing other than perusing Loadbooks and noticing how powerful the round is. Both the pressures and resulting velocities published are significantly higher than the Ruger-only/TC loads for the 45 colt. It should be fun!

HELLO,
The 45 MIN MAG IS A LOOOONG 45ACP.
IT WAS USED IN THE AUTO MAG AND WILDEY(SPELL?) I believe also in the Desert Eagle .i have one but have never shot it with full power loads, I am a cheapskate.

I recently picked up a 10" Bull Barrel Contender barrel in this caliber at a local pawn shop. Came with a box of factory ammo. WW 230 gr RN cartidges. Factory specs is 1400 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle. Accoding to what i have read, the contender gave this round a new life after the original factory auto pistols stopped production.

3 shots and my hand is numb enough to no longer be able to hold onto the pistol. Buzzing and tingling will go away after a few minutes. I loaded up some round with the reccomended starting loads from the book. Still a little hot but much more pleasant to shoot. I am a collector of odd caliber barrels and this one fills the bill. It's got me thinking "carbine"

Running the low weight bullets will zing the shooter a bit, where it shines is the heavy weights up to about 300g. We've made it for several years now and it continues to be a pretty popular cartridge. I've shot the Wildey, IMI, and T/C and by far the T/C is the most accurate with the Wildey a close second, the most most comfortable is the Wildey with the IMI coming third in both races. All around good medium sized game cartridge, brass is plentiful and not expensive, bullets seem to shoot better if sized .452 but .451 will not open them up too much. Powders are all the usual suspects H110, W296, AA9, AL2400.

One of my favorites. Load it up to 1600+ fps with heavies and it will take down dinosaurs (and make your hand sore). For me it is good to 75 yards with irons (old eyes). With a scope, 125 yards could work. Make it a sturdy scope. I wrecked a cheaper holo on mine with just 3 full power loads. If you load 185 gr bullets using powders and charges from the .45 ACP tables and it is a great (big) plinker with mild recoil.

enjoy

I haven't played with mine in quite a while.  Remember it head spaces on the case mouth, so case length is critical and you have to use a taper crimp.  GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt
