Anybody using Corian Grips on their sixshooter? I'm wondering how they feel.

Ok, well, I think I got my answer. Based on the rousing response, I'm guessing I don't need to get me some Corian grips after all.

My friend who is an artist type guy carved some different Corian grips for some of his buddies years ago. I don't know if they were on a sixshooter but I know he did two for autos for sure.

I was thinking about ordering a set of them. Some of the patterns look nice. I'm not sure about the slick finish though.

I think it's 3M...get the spelling right if you're running a search...I'm pretty sure it's "Corian." The stuff used to be hard to get for the ordinary guy...you almost had to be a factory to get it. Works with ordinary hand & power tools.

I just browsed the DuPont web site (at first I was afraid it might be from North Corea).
Interesting stuff. I've made Blackhawk grips from all sorts of wood, but this may hold promise, if I can find a few pieces resembling ivory and or buffalo horn. An evening or two with a jig saw and the old Dremmel might work. Now I need another Blackhawk. Darn!

See if you can get ahold of a general contractor, a single sink cutout ought to be enough for a lifetime supply of grips, and I'd imagine would be darn near free to boot.
