T/C Encore 15" 209x50 blued pistol barrel
« on: March 04, 2008, 10:12:36 AM »
Hello,

I picked up a new in box T/C Encore 15" 209x50 blued pistol barrel with walnut for-end.  I mounted a Weaver 2x28mm scope with basic weaver style base and rings.  I wanted a scope that I was able to remove for cleaning and also utilize for my T/C Encore 10" 44 Magnum blued pistol barrel which also has a basic weaver style base.  Hope fully this scope will be close to the same point of impact for both barrels.

I was wondering if anyone has used these on a successful hunt and how do you all like them.

I shot mine about one dozen times and carried it for hunting, but couldn't fine my first harvestable deer.  I was using 2 pyrodex pellets with a 250 grain sabot bullet and 209 primer.

Thank you,
yooper77

I've used the Weaver Quad Lock rings which have the ability to remove and re-mount very quickly and easily.  POI have stayed virtually the same for my setups.

I've used these rings on muzzle loaders for the same reasons you mentioned.  The Weaver Quad Lock rings are inexpensive and look good, and work great.  They mount on Weaver style bases.

Rog

Thank you Dave and Rog,

I was thinking about getting a rifle 209x50 barrel and cut it down, but I fell into a great deal with my 15" pistol barrel.

I do have some sets of Quad-Lock rings, maybe I should give them a try.

I am also thinking about getting the swing hammer mod for my older blued Encore frame so I can use the lower rings.

I have killed more deer with mine then I can remember. I use 90 grs of goex black powder with a 300 gr Lightfield alpha gold and I have had good luck with the Barnes 250 gr copper. they shoot to about the same place at hunting ranges.

Right now I got a T/C 2.5-7 lighted scope, But I am thinking about putting one of my bushnell 3200 with firefly. because I hunt in thick woods and most of my shots are less then 50 yards the thick cross hairs shouldn't be an issue.

This is a very effective and fun barrel to hunt with, it is a shame more people are not using it.
