polishing brass casings
« on: March 08, 2008, 01:43:04 PM »
I just got a tumbler for Christmas.  Didn't have any media so I thought I would try some silicon sand on about 20 casings.  They seem a little gritty, but are very clean.  What can I use to take the grittyness off the casings? ???

Try rice.  I switched to it years ago.  Cheap and readily available.

I tried rice, too. I want back to the corncob media made for cleaning brass. Not rat cage litter, not grits, or any other exotic stuff that can be imagined. It just doesn't work as well for me.

I would not use sand! Any of that ends up in your dies and it will reek havoc.   KN

Go to walmart in the pet department and get yourself a bag of walnute bedding its 5 or 10lb bag for under $4.00. Add your brass polish and your set. I add dillion brass polish 16oz bottle has lasted me over 5 years and it's still half full.
