Happy Dance
« on: February 28, 2008, 04:10:50 PM »
I went and picked up my new .308 Survivor this afternoon. ;D  ;D ;D I am really happy with it the fit and finish are great and the action locks up nice and tight. I spent some time when I got it home mounting the scope and giving the rifle a good inspection. This may be my first Handi but it will not be my last. I wont be able to get to the range until next week but I will post a report and pics as soon as I can.

Thanks all for the great info and advice I got off this site.

Thanks Tim

After seeing that a bunch of you needed to polish the chamber to prevent sticky cases. I whipped out my MiniMag when I got home and had good look at the chamber and the bore both of which look nice and smooth of course I need to run some patches down the bore to clean the preservative out of it. I also gave the crown and the bore center line a look and they are both spot on. I anticipate once I get the barrel broke in that it will darn good shooter.

You will have the biggest smile on your face when you first get it out to the range. I know I did. If you are gonna shoot for any extended periods of time you might want to check into a recoil pad. I shot for about two hours and it was starting to become a little uncomfortable. Have fun shooting and let us know how it goes!

WOW!!!  I'm gonna start painting my stock and fore end while the frame is over at NEF!!!  Seriously, It's great to see kids starting out like that.  Years back, a buddy got his daughter a Chipmunk .22, and her Mom forbade her to have it.  She's in college now and has never fired anything.  Good luck, enjoy your rifle and your kids.
Keep both eyes open and make the first shot good.

a few years ago I got my boys a Chipmunk. best investment I made lots of memories made with that gun. Now the youngest is a "big time deer hunter" at 7. Killed his first deer 10/31/06 a nice FL 3point. I think I was more excited than he was. If I can figure it out I'll post the pic.

Smoke I know exactly what you are talkin about. I was with 2 groen men when they got there first deer. My brother (24) and my sisters boyfriend(29) when they got there first. Both were out of my tree LOL I put two stand in one tree so I could help them. And let me tell ya. That was as good as me getting a deer. GREAT memory one I will always cherrish

Saloon ... I think that may be my next handi or a 223 Ultra Fluted Varmint. ??? I just hope you have as much fun with your Handi as you are going to have watching your boys with there first gun. Congrats to the three of ya.    Stu
