Went to buy a new Ruger 10/22 yesterday, I never really liked the looks of the standard 10/22 stock with the clamp on the front. Saw a factory Ruger with the fancy walnut stock without the clamp, was going to buy it and noticed that there was alot of movement between the front part of the action/barrel and the stock. There is only one screw to hold it together, which is located just forward of the magazine, ended up buying a standard model with the clamp. This rifle is rock solid in holding the action together.
My concern/question is...lots of people buy aftermarket stocks for 10/22's, doesn't this become a problem with the action being held to the stock with only one small screw to hold everything together? It seems to me that the whole assembly would be loose and annoying, is there some other way to solidify the action to the aftermarket stocks short of using glue?
Thanks.
