Loose Burris Signature Zees (medium) & Ultra .223
« on: March 08, 2008, 01:19:17 PM »
Hello,

I tried installing a scope on my .223 Ultra using Burris Signature Zee rings (medium height). However, once I've tightened everything up, the mount still has a LOT of play (side to side as well as up and down). I can actually hold the gun pointing toward a light and see the lack of contact between the bottom of the rings and the Ultra mount. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do? The rings just aren't clamping tightly enough to the base.

Squeeze the ring clamp in a vise to close them up a little, but not too much or you won't be able to get them on the rail. If that happens you'll have to tap a screwdriver blade into the expansion slot to open them up a little. I replace the slotted Burris screw with socket head screws, then you can put more force on the screw. Be sure to put some oil on the screws to make them turn easier and not bind.
