Sights

 I where tryfocals and the sights on it are not very good for me.Anyone know of a fix?.i know i can change the back site,but what about the front? thanks.pan

I put on a Holo sight, it works great.
Now I can use the top lens of my tris and keep both eyes open.

I am following this thread with great interest!  I decided I was going to hunt with one of my clones this year, a Uberti SAA, but my old eyes cannot see the sights!  Can you mount a holo on a SAA?

Yep! u can if u know a good welder and a good machiniest it can be done.

well, uh, I think I'll skip that!  Maybe some duct tape will work   :P  Naw... Guess I'll see if real weak reading glasses will let me see the front sight and bambi also...  :-\
I can see it now, bambi steps out in front of my stand... within my self-imposed max distance of 25 yds,  I say "wait a minute there fella!  just hold still!"  I put down my rifle, put on my glasses, draw my SAA from it's holster, get in pistol shootin posture, and start lookin for my sights.  And bambi will stand there patiently... waiting... RIIIIIIGHT!   ::)

at law.. you are gonna need a constant flow corn trickler for that deer to stand there that long... you gotta keep the glasses on your forehead and just wiggle your face to get em to drop on the bridge of your nose... the real problem comes in when you get all cocked and ready and see a buck out farther and have to transtition back...
take it from one who learned by the big bang theory of instruction... be careful to let the hammer down on an empty chamber when you uncock the pistol just in case it drops from it intended holstering spot.... it could land on the hammer, maybe.... really could...
they are so loud in the deer stand.. and they scare the buck away.. not to mention the doe up close....
and the smell of the .. uh .. "discharge" is AWFUL...
just thought I would help u out there pard... as a brother of the bar... I like martini bars, blues bars, chocolate bars, open bars, free bars, cash bars, gold bars, lead bars,...
seriously a lot of folks say they use the ghost ring rear and it clears things up a bit...

Try a fiber optic front sight with a Bowen Rough Country rear. Works great on my Bisley.

I already thought of that... got the perfect solution.  since Bambi gonna be so close I can't take the chance he'll hear the hammer of the revolver say C-O-L-T when I cock it.  So I'll just thumb the hammer back when I get in my stand and stick her in the holster so she'll be ready to go as soon as I pull her out!  Same reasoning I used when I decided to not put my rifle's safety on after I chamber a round...   :P

That would probably do the trick but I started thinking.  I started out thinking I'd give taking a deer with a handgun a try.  What the heck, I've got the gun, I haven't shot it in a long time, I can have fun reloading for it and shooting, etc.  First thing crosses my mind is what if I can't get it to shoot to point of aim!?  I finally resolve that issue in my mind and then I find out I can't see the sights like I usetacould anyway!  So then I start thinking about what I can do to get sights I can see, and how I could modify the SAA to take these sights.  Well hold on just a yankee dollar's worth of minutes there bunkie!  This is gettin outa hand!  Forget it!  I'll just play with the SAA and maybe even carry it hunting if I'm comfortable in my ability to shoot it accurately again.  Damn lawyers think to much sometimes!  'sides, I ordered a 44 mag with fiber optic sights yesterday... ;D

I wear bi-focals, had a pair made for me, lower part I held my hand out stretched, had the lens made for about 9 inches past the end of my fingers, they work great.

I read in the archives that you had used the One Ragged Hole sight and liked it. Can you tell me more about it? I just got a Ruger 45LC/45ACP Blackhawk and the sights don't work well for me.

The sights have 2 different size apertures, they  fit in the rear sight, I liked them, but they stick up a llittle high. I have since gone to a Red Dot.  But those sights do work very well.  My eyes just don't work too well with iron sights any more.
