Canada's health plan is having some difficulties but nothing that can't be solved by modest user fees. This is likely the way it will go. If I loose my job I am still covered. In 2002 I had open-heart surgery. The government paid 100%. I would have been out $75,000.00 if we didn't have a national plan.

I guess it depends on what the definition of "modest user fee" amounts to.  I think, rather than having a mandated system, there should be a wide variety of insurance coverages and it should be up to the individual to choose the plan that best fits his situation.

I know that there are problems with every health care plan, but I'm not quite ready to give up on choice and the free market.  Competition works best for nearly everything else, but maybe that's just too much to hope for when it comes to health care.

Don't know if this fits here, but i have a question ot two.
If the Dr. bills the ins. co. for $150.00 and the ins. co. says we will only pay $75.00 and the Dr. accepts
then why couldn't the dr. just bill me for the $75.00 to start with.
when the Dr, bills $150.00 and only gets $75.00 does he claim $75.00 as a loose on his taxes.
I know they may be stupid Questions, but have ponder the answers a long time, no one has ever answered them.

I don't think you understand what i an saying.
My ins. co. negotiates every bill and all ways it comes back they paid the dr. away less than he billed for
he accepts it and that is that, guess they have decided to bill for twice as much, since the ins. co cuts them, some times pretty deep.

If you think national health care is a good idea, ponder this.  Go to the hospital, set up an appointment for an MRI for example, ask what the bill is up front with no insurance.  Then ask what the bill is with insurance.  At Alaska Regional hospital, the fee is 50% less with insurance than those without insurance.  The reason given for this, is to pay for services to others who do not or will not pay their medical bills.  If national health care was instituted, who do you think would pay for the insurance rates for those who do not pay now?  We would with higher taxes and still pay the higher rate billed, even with negotiated insurance payoff.

The major ins companies like BC/BS pay doctors and hospitals EVERY MONTH.  Even if the doctor didn't see a single patient!!!  In other words the docs get paid for nothing.  The system pays a little more for each patient.  My farther is retired from BC/BS and he tells me all the time that insurance is a scam but a scam we have to put up with.

Since your from Canada, why don't you also explain the HUGH problem of STACKING patients your government ran health care system causes, which it also does in other countries such as England. It is in fact a REAL problem, and some patients DIE, before getting treatment, and your government system actually, is NOT working very well. The "government" gets to decide what you need and "don't" need. Your giving up your guns, (already have your handguns) and now you have lost your freedom to choose medical treatment. No thanks.

Why would you want to trust a government that has never kept a promise and has showed it cant be trusted with money, with your health care? They promised me free health care for me and my wife for life for making the military a career
. They have broken that and the explanation was that "Congress never authorized that" If a Private company had this statement in print and had used it to induce workers for 50 years then said the board didnt say that, they would all be in jail. Social security was suppost to be a trust fund not a slush fund, The B.I.A. was suppost to keep records and manage the indians funds only a few billions unaccounted for, The U.S. government has broken every promise except one, They promised the indians they would take their land that one was kept. Now you think they should be in charge of your health care? If congress was under the social security plan and medicare instead of their own very cushy system it might actually work. Your repersenatives don't know you or how you live because they live in a different world The pres didn't know that gas was over 3 bucks a gallon actually had no idea.

torpedoman! Stop it! Stop it right now! Stop this ridiculous behavior of rational thought and truth. Both cause problems. Everyone knows that. Good grief! These subjects of the state have to be watched every second. I moving to Canada where REAL freedom, and government health care and gun control are going to take care of me, and keep me safe. :)
