Mossberg 702 Help!
« on: March 19, 2008, 10:24:05 AM »
I have a Mossberg 702 plinkster that i have had for 5 or 6 years. I like the rifle because it was cheap and very accurate. I hate that it misfires so much. I use it for plinking at the range and small animals and try to clean it as best as i can after each use. I can only clean the barrel and everything that I can see when the action is open. Does anyone know how how to disassemble this rifle for more thorough cleaning? It used to misfire 1 or 2 shells per magazine, then someone told me to use Silicone based Rem oil now it misfires maybe 1 out of every two magazines. It misfires Federal, Winchester, CCI, Remington, etc. My dad has a older Marlin 60 that he leaves at the shop and almost never cleans it but I don't ever remember it misfiring! Should I just trade it in for a Marlin???

If you don't get any assistance here, you may want to check the Mossberg forum over at www.RimfireCentral.com.

Did you check the instruction manual?  The Mossberg website indicates that there are disassembly instructions for cleaning and maintenance.
