Looking for new guns (3)

Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I hunted (ducks and other small game )most of my life but I've been away from it for a while. My two sons 8 & 14 expressed an interest in hunting this year so I took them on a couple duck and rabbit hunt............they are hooked. They would like to try deer and maybe a little hog hunting, that's why I need new guns. We will mostly hunt on land we own & most shots will probably be 100 yards or under. I think I would like to go with single shots (NEF / H&R). I'm open to any and all suggestions since I have never owned a rifle.
For the 8 year old.................243 or 25.06
Something with little recoil
For the 14 year old and myself...................rifle (caliber) ?? or Slug gun ??

I vote .357 Magnum Handi Rifle for the 8 year old.
No recoil
Cheap ammo
Your 8 year old can practice with lots of cheap .38 special ammo.
If you're keeping shots in the 100 yards or less range then 30-30
for you and your 14 year old. If you read through a lot
of the old posts you'll see that 30-30's are one of the favorites around here.

I second the 30-30 idea. I have no experience with a .357 mag so won't comment on that. It does appear to bne a good idea with the 38 special ammo with the .357

7-08, .357, and a .45-70. All good shooters and easy to get ammo for, especially the .357 you may want to learn how to reload if you don't cause its fun and the .357s go fast.

Get the 30-30 and the .357mag both can be loaded up or down to suit your needs. With either one you have more then enough gun for deer sized critters given your range.

To me this is a no-brainer. By three 7-08s. For the youngsters, and you for that matter, use the 'managed recoil' from Remington. The 708 will take any game in the lower 48s. capt david
