.223 to .25 cal rebore
« on: March 12, 2008, 05:37:24 AM »
Any of you fellers ever mess with a .25 x .223 or know of one? I have an older .223 bull that just don't shoot like I want it to, Not bad just not great, So seeing as I'm kinda like some of the other guys around here I am thinking re-bore. Oh BTW i don't have a .25 so that's a pretty good reason ain't it.

Fred had a couple 24" 223 barrels rebored, one to a 257 Roberts, and the other to 6x47, you can read about them on his website.

Back in the 70's John Wooters came up with a 25 Copperhead(222/25) that in a Handirifle should be a hoot.Use 223 brass and you would have a great weapon for up to whitetails size animals.Google the 25 Copperhead or load data.just my 2c   Doug

It is not a .25 bore (.257 vs .264), but a 6.5 TCU would be close to what you want and there are dies available, and loading data is readily found for it too.

Since I started this thread and others, I've done some more research based on recommendations and the TCUs may be just what I want, Now I can,t decide which one! I already have a 6.5x55 and a .280, But I sold my .243 so no 6mm or .25cal.  The 7 has the best bullet choices but i like the idea of a 25, Don't  ya just hate life altering decisions like this? Makes my head hurt.
