GP100 vs Blackhawk
« on: March 14, 2008, 03:48:09 PM »
Can the GP100 handle Blackhawk loads??

I'm loading some and my oldest son has the BH, and my youngest son has a GP100. Both are 6" barrels.

Yes they can. If anything the GP is stouter than the blackhawk, I have both and other than one being a DA and the other SA performance is the same. I do prefer the GP but its mostly in the grips more than anything else.

Agree---but don't try those loads in a Smith&Wesson--I have owned a Black Hawk since 1967, and have reloaded for it for many years--when my wife bought a Smith I took it out into the back yard to try it out at my shooting range--low and behold--the empties were a little hard to eject--after 12 rounds I quit---and I don't try to load hot loads for the Black Hawk, just a good accurate moderate load.
