First hand experience with 4200 6-24x40?
« on: February 18, 2008, 02:22:03 PM »
What is your experience with this scope?  I have three 4200 4-16x40s that I love and I am thinking about something with a little more magnification for range shooting.  Isn't the exit pupil too small and as a result too dark at max magnification?  What do you think of the 6-24x50?

I have a Bushnell 4200  6x24 40.  I like mine and think it's an awesome scope for the money.

Excellent scope I got mine with the mil dot reticle. I don't do 50mm objectives I like my scopes lower to the bore than that.

Thanks everyone for your help.  I will go with the 40mm.

I've been using mine for F Class.  The small dot can be kind of hard to see, but I didn't have the money for an S&B. I think the lack of adjustment is the only problem with them. I have a 20 MOA base, and couldn't go down enough to get on paper at 100. Dead on at 300 though. Probably enough up to get to 1000.

I ordered 6X-24X 4200 a few days ago , my first ever Bushnell. Mine will have the target dot reticle . It will be used on a Rem 700 heavy barrel in .223. Just a few more days to wait.

I have the 1/4" dot reticle version. As bright and clear as my Leupolds. Focus down to 10 yds without going 2 turns on the AO like the EFR. Only problem is the length and weight

I have the mil-dot on my Bushnell and it's setting on a .223 Savage 10FP. This setup is awesome and works very well for me. I have had mine for about 3 years now.

What rings do you recommend (high? medium? brand?) for this scope, to mount on an AR-15 with Weaver style mounts?
