Do any of you know anything about the  Savage 516 Striker? The is a pistol but shoots center fire rifle rounds. It comes in a lot of different cartridges like the 223, 243, 308, 270WSM, 300WSM, and the 22-250. I was thinking this would be alot of fun in the 223 or maybe 22-250 for Groundhog hunting. I don't think I would like the recoil in the heavier calibers. Do any of you know how they might group at 100 yards? Also I wonder if you could take a regular savage barrel and have it cut down and installed on it. Here is a link to one just so you can see one. Thanks Dale http://www.gunbroker.net/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=92904280

Savage has discontinued them. From all reports I know they shot very well, but evidently weren't selling enough I guess. They made them for a couple years up till last year I believe. But don't quote me. There is also one in the classifieds right now.

dale,

ive fired quite a few in various calibers. all the ones i have shot have performed pretty well. all have been able to group under 1.5 inches at 100 if i did my part. some did considerable better. they are fun to shoot and if you handload you can get the most out of them. the 7mm-08 a friend had would shoot clusters all day long with his handloads, and it dropped IHMSA 200 meter rams with boring regularity. performance on game was very impressive. if you can get one for the right price i say go for it.

I f you like showing up factory rifles with a pistol . Then grab that thang. There is a great article on 6 mm br about one that will shoot with just about anything out there. I don't have a stryker but am in the market when one comes along that is right. Barrels are easily changed and any take off barrel will screw on , long as it is a 1.055 diameter thread, which almost all are

http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek083.html             He also has a good article on the major weakness of the stryker trigger
