price for a 17hmr M2
« on: December 10, 2007, 06:22:05 PM »
How much did you guys pay for a NEF 17M2? With prices seeming to go up every time you blink I was wondering what a good buy is.
I just bought a 17HMR and really like it so I was thinking of getting a 17M2. Thanks

They sell for $130 locally, the bull barrel 17hmr and 17M2 are about $20 more than the standard barrel 22Lr and 22Mag Sportsters.

Well I've done some calling around . So far the best price I have is $165 for a 17M2 with a bull barrel. I gave $170 for my 17HMR with bull barrel. These were all local prices. Some were small shops all the way to Gander Mountain it didnt seem to matter where. Can anyone tell me how long NEF has offered the 17M2? I wasnt aware of it until this year. Thanks

I've had mine for almost 3yrs. If you have a Walmart that stills sells firearms, they're probably as low as you'll find, I don't have a link to the 17M2 tho.

If you got a Walmart that sells guns by you they get them cheaper than almost anyone else. But you will probly have to order it . Looks to me like they are getting a lot more guns from Lipsey's now instead of Sports South. Not sure how long the M2 has been out but at least 2yrs.Kurt

I checked, I bought mine the end of October 2004, right after the .204 Ruger Handi. ;)

The wal mart I checked with yesterday, couldn't get ahold of any m2s.  Shouldn't have put it off...

I have read H&R/NEF may not be making any more (?), if so they most likely become a hot commodity and the price will go up. Mine is a tack driver with both .17 Mach2 and .17 Aquila ammo. One problem is you can rechamber a .17 Mach2 into a .17 HMR but you cannot rechamber  a .17 HMR into a .17 Mach2, some one may come up with a chamber insert to do that but as yet no one has. I cannot for the life of me see why H&R/NEF would stop making the .17 Mach2's, they are such a fine and fun gun. If this rumor is true it is just another in a long line of outstanding business decision's by H&R/NEF....<><....:(

I called NEF customer service last week after seeing the M2 was no longer in the 2008 catalog.
They said they had none in stock and it looked like it had been some time since they've shipped any to their distributors.

I then called Gander Mountain here in S.E. Michigan and they indicated that GM had a total of 20 in stock throughout their network of stores. The closest to me being a store in the Upper Peninsula and the price was $130.

After an experience I had with GM a couple years ago when trying to purchase a Sidekick ML, I would be surprised if there were actually/physically 20 M2's in their inventory.    And what you might find is if they do have any, they are probably display models or a firearm that for whatever reason they've been unable to clear from their shelf.

Good luck.

that's GREAT, perhaps you could get the display model or left over stock for a discount, say $100.00 or so What a deal that would be for a great gun....<><....:)

After reading here some weeks ago that 17M2 has been discontinued, when I saw today that a local independent had 2 in stock, I bought one.  $169.

Just bought one.  Bull barrel Mach 2, $130.00  It'll be awhile before the snow melts and it warms up to put it through some trials.

great grab buddy, both of you...try some .17 Aguila (20 grain) out of the .17 Mach2 (NOT out of the .17 HMR!!!) I think you will be pleasantly surprised. It is great small varmint and target ammo....<><....:)
