NEF .204 help
« on: April 06, 2008, 09:09:08 AM »
New to the NEF guns.  I have .204 shooting just over a 1.25 inch.  Found some reports of 1/2 inch at 100 yards.  Had trigger job done by factory it is at 2.5 pounds.
Any suggestion for reloads???  Currently using BLC-2 and AA-2230 with 32 gr. bullets.

Not being smart but mine and my friends will both cut 3 shots covered compleatly by a dime at 100 with factory 32gr VMAXs. Both are bone stock factory guns. With that kind of groups why reload? Give it a chance to show what it can do.

I will try some factory loads.  See what I can get.  Reason to reload cost.

For me reloading is half the fun of shooting. I have problems with my 204 and 40 grainers. It shoots the 32's nicely but haven't been able to give it a good work out yet. I plan on using Midsouths 34 grainers and then load up some 35 Bergers. Hopefully they'll work out. Good luck. Dave

I shot mine today after sitting all winter and put a new Mueller APV on it 8 shots and it was shooting way less than 1" .Took 1 200 yrd shot at an orange and turned it into pulp. 34 grain Midway Dogtown bullets 3500fps.That Mueller sure is sweet for the price. Kurt

I have the best luck with reloader 10x at 26.3 grains and sierra 32 gr blitzkings. 32 Vmax's do not shoot the same. I think I have to load them with less powder. Your work up may take some time. Keep searching for recipes. You'll find a few mentioned over and over. The 204 Rocks! and is like a laser when you find the right load. The load mentioned above is Max by the book. Every gun is different so keep good records and notes. Work up .5 grains ata time and when it is close go.3 to fine tune around that. .3 makes quite a difference.
