chamber mates or gauge mates

has any one have any experiance with the reducers........i want 1 in 28 gauge for 1 of my 12 ga.........it looks like the chambermates all have o rings(like the old savage fulltenner which i have) and the gauge-mates do not have the o ring......thanks for any info as i am going to by 1 but just havent decided on which brand.........thanks mack

I have used ChamberMates and found that they work well in some applications.  I used 410 bore ChamberMates in my 28 gauge Citori and the chokes worked well.  I got great patterns.  I also have shot with friends who used small subgauge ChamberMates in a 12 gauge shotgun and had terrible results.  We found that the bore diameter of the 12 gauge did not allow the chokes to affect the pattern of the small diameter sub gauge shotshells.

I would question the use of 28 gauge ChamberMates in a 12 gauge shotgun.

Wonder how 28's in a 20 gauge would work???

Though I am certain that 28 gauge ChamberMates would be very effective in a 20 gauge shotgun, why wouldn't you just reload 20 gauge shotshells with 3/4 ounce of shot?  That might save the cost of a reloader, dies, hulls, wads, etc, and the effect would be the same (similar).
