B29 and X1 Rocket ...
« on: December 30, 2007, 04:25:02 AM »
My brother sent this to me ...

The B-29 runs on four chainsaw motors. You can just imagine how much time, effort, skill and money these guys have put into this thing. Just remarkable!

Haha...love how the 'pilots' ejected when things got rough.

Hell, why not mount some .270 barrels on that sucker and have fun next time firearms season for deer rolls around? Could prolly take out a whole herd that way.

Those engines would have to be fuel injected to fly upside down. I guess not being a two stroke Chainsaw motor ,or would they ?

The fuel delivery systems and engines in general are designed to operate in any attitude.  Doesn't matter if they are 2 or 4 stroke.

Mounting live guns on an R/C aircraft is a good way to end up in prison.  Highly illegal!!  But it has been done ::)

When i lived in El Paso, TX they used R/C planes to fly drugs out of Mexico. Had the
controler in a jeep would fly way over the river then just crash land them, had plane that
would carry 2-3lbs pills. ::)

I'm thinking you could take some 10/22 apart and put on a really short, light barrel maybe an inch or two long and then you could mount the action/barrel and have about 20 rounds of .22 available.  That would be SO cool... probably highly illegal but COOL.  Anyone know if there is actually a law against armed r/c aircraft???

They know how to make it drop stuff... remote control flour bombs would be really crazy as well!  Can you imaging making a pass and dropping about 20 little flour bombs on an old car or something?  Yeah... I know... get back to work and quit thinking!!!

Yes it is actually a law that you can't put firearms, or any explosive device on an RC aircraft!  Yes it has been done.  One factor to take into consideration is the recoil of the round to be fired.  Recoil from a 45 derringer will totally disintegrate a 6# 58" plane with a 58" wingspan.

I've flown RC since the mid '70s.  Have a plane with a 16foot wing that has since been relegated to hanging from the ceiling of the hanger, that we used to drop everything up to and including 16# bowling balls from, sometimes with a utility chute and sometimes without just to see the end result.  The plane was originally built in the early '80s to be a part of a celebration dealing with the advent of airmail and was flown nonstop over 150 miles with a load of mail on board with the pilot riding in the back of a convertable on the highway below.
