Choked 357 barrel?????
« on: May 07, 2008, 12:28:04 PM »
I was looking at barrels on Gunbroker the other day and I ran across a .357 barrel with a choke in it.  Is that a barrel made specifically for snake shot cartridges?  I can't imagine using a choke on a barrel for a regular .357 mag round.

you use the barrel with choke installed with shot cartridges and remove the choke for firing the 357 loads they take a special wrench to remove the choke should come with barrel otherwise  you have to go on ebay and pick one up for around 12.00. I had one but did not care for it at all, it also had a vent rib.

Thanks Deacon,

Does the choke mess with the accuracy of 357?

I thought it did but then it may have been me. there is around 3/4 inch where there are no rifling's as the bullet leaves the barrel. much on the same order as the 45/410 barrel the app. 1 inch jump of bullet before hitting the riflings and then no riflings at end of barrel. I had both and did not care for them but some like them. At one time I owned a commanchie 45/410 and it was the same way. The guy at our local gun shop said that trappers love them because they only have to carry one gun. to each his own mtcw
