My new BC 45/70
« on: March 25, 2008, 05:50:44 PM »
G'day all,

Just got my new BC 45/70, now to start customising. I'm thinking brass trigger guard, fore end spacer,  butt plate, attach a tang to the receiver for a veneer sight and lastly a pewter fore end tip. The tang sight looks the part but a cheaper easier option is the Smith's Ent, ladder sight what do people think?

i have a smith sight on mine and could not be happier, mine has the peep hole slider and i have a lyman .404 front globe sight  the globe that comes with the gun is .584 and is to high, if you are going to shoot 300 grn or 400 grn projectiles then put a .494 globe on the front.this is if you use the smith sight if you use the williams fp rear sight the stick with the .404 lyman globe sight.the first two pics are the  smith sight and the third pic is the williams sight

Thought some of you might like to see a couple of deer taken by my two sons the first time they ever used one of my H/R NEF rifles.
The 1st one is my 13 year old with his 1st buck using my BC 45-70 with WIN. 300 gr HPs and a SIMMONS 2.5-10-44 old style AETEC at about 110 yds.

The second one is my 9 year old with a 243 HANDI YOUTH using WIN. 100 gr POWER POINT PLUS and a BUSHNELL 4-12-40 at about 70 yds.

G'day Slim,

Hope it comes soon enough for you, they are quite tasty. I have learnt a lot about patience since getting back into shooting, waiting for my pistol licence at the moment, so I can pick up my Blackhawk. Might see you at a range someday, I'm with Murrumber, which club are you with?

Check out the FAQs and Help sticky,

A HUGE +1 on the FAQ sticky!  I spent nearly a week (of my on-line time) reading there before I even registered!

Oh, and a big thanks to all of you who contributed to the FAQ.  It's valuable enough that I made my decision to buy a handi from reading there...
