Ya Tim i had to look twice at that target to make sure that i didn't pull pne clear off the paper , now to see if i can get the same results with the GNR formed brass , it has a longer neck than the ones formed with the 222 Rem die .

I never had much luck with Varget but it and BLC-2 seem to be the powders for this round , i still want to try some 40 and 45 grain bullets but for now the heavier ones look like winners .

Looks like you're getting a load together and sounds like a fun project but I'm not familiar with a 224GNR. I haven't found anything in my reloading stuff about it. Is it kind of like a hyper Hornet? Dave

Hey Stimpy Thanks for the range report, I always like to read these. Sounds like you had a great day at the range.
Do you have a chronograph? These are really helpful, especially when working up loads for wildcats.

GOOD SHOOTING!

Thanks again guys , looks like loads 5 , 6 & 7 are going to be worth working with for now , still don't have a chrono , was hoping Santa would bring one but no luck so i may just have to do it myself .

The nice thing about this round is that it is basicly a 222 Rem with a rimmed case , the case cap is around 1/2 grain of powder more than the 222 with all the powders that i have tried so far . What i have been doing so far is using start 222 data wand working up from there .

Sweet!
I had been wondering if you had gotten it to the range yet. Looks like you got one heck of a winner load with #6. You have ground hogs out by you right? It should do a number on them.

Very good shooting Stimpy. I have found that 24.9 grains of BL C2 with Hornady 50 grain SX and Remington 7 1/2 primers shoots best in my 222. I never got a Crono on it and it was not at a full load. It was a mild load around 2900 fps (guessing) with 50 grain bullets off of the lands .020". Cases lasted a long time this way. I had to anneal some where around 8 reloads or the necks would start spitting (around the neck not length wise) because I would only partially size that long neck (about .2" of it). Mine was a 1 - 14" twist, you may find different results being a 1 - 12" twist. BTW the 50 SX would do a number on anything even at the mild loads I was shooting. I found the Speer 52 hollow points shot very well too, but would pass through a wood chuck at 125 yards, the SX will not.
