What model do I have?
« on: April 01, 2008, 12:57:35 PM »
Thought I had a plain ole handi, but I was at the gun shop today and my .223 barrel is twice as big as
the standard handi barrel! Wish I was set up to drop a pic maybe another rainy day.  So help me out
here guys. It came synthetic with a weaver mount if that makes any difference.

Twice?? That's not an exageration is it? Barrel diameters are listed in the FAQs and Help sticky, bull barrels are about .800", standard contour .650" or so. How long is the barrel? If someone cut it off, it would be much larger, factory lengths are 20", 22", 24" and 26".

The barrel is 22", not chopped and the muzzle measures close to .650.
The other handi I was looking at had a really slim barrel in comparison.(really tapers down after the chamber)
I really thought this was going to be easy.  Thanks for the speedy reply anyway Quick!

That would indeed be a standard contour Handi barrel that has a gradual taper from the chamber swell, the Superlight is 20", almost straight from just ahead of the chamber swell to the muzzle, much like the pre '87 original H&R barrels were. ;)
