« on: October 23, 2008, 08:59:10 AM »
I hunted turkey's for the first time this spring and now my daughter (age 10) wants to hunt w me this fall.  anyone know any trick that could help us get a bird.  i find they are as hard to hunt as white tail and I don't have a big collection of calls yet. :-[

In the fall, I just walk the woods hoping to find a small flock.  Sometimes I'll call lightly (mostly soft clucks or a yelp or two) to try to pull them my way.
The other fall method is to bust up the flock and start calling (yelps this time) to draw a few back.

Fall turkey hunting is so different than the spring.  Of course, anytime out with your daughter is time well spent   :)

that's great, walking is more my style,  then busting up the flock is likely which means you have a good area and birds trying to follow each other's calls.  thanks, you made my day.  ab
