I do not have either one of those cartridges, but do know they are both powerful. If it was me I would stick with the tried and true 300 Winchester Mag. of course these are on a long action vs a short action for the 300 WSM. I really do not think a deer is going to know the difference, so pick the one you want to shoot with. I just want you to be aware that you are talking about a very heavy gun in the Model 12. Very accurate rifles, but heavy. I am not very familiar with the model 111, but believe it to be much lighter, maybe in the 8 pound range. Being heavy helps a whole lot in the recoil department. I have a few varmint guns that weigh this much 12 pounds and they are nice if you get set up and not move very much. I do a lot of stalking where I am at, for woodchucks and I carry guns that are much lighter for that. I can carry a 7 pound rifle just about all day, but those 12+ pounds get to be a burden real quick. If you are carrying binoculars, some extra ammo, Bi-pod, range finder, a lunch,Thermos or canteen for instance. It all adds up. It bothers ME the most in the shoulder area. I have also found that you can condition yourself by just carrying the gun around with you for a while in the yard every day. Slowly increase the time you carry it until you can walk around with it on your shoulder for the length of time you will be in the fields with it with out a break. If you are going to carry them out 1/2 mile and then set them up in a tree stand or in ground blind, then I think you would be OK. If you are going to stalk with these or pick up and move often, you are going to find them a real burden after a while if you are not in good condition. If you get fatigued and/or your heart pounding you may not shoot as well too. Just my 2 cents
