Info on Remington 700 SP?

Do any of you know about a model on the Remington 700 called a 700 SP? It has a blue action, not deep blue and not matte, an ADL type wood stock, but has a floor plate. Can't find one in a Catalog.

I saw someone looking at one at Dick's and was wondering too.  Matt blue/wood. I believe it is like a SPS but has a walnut stock.  So special purpose only?

I was at Dick's Sporting Goods about a month ago and they had a Remington SP there and the clerk told me that it was made especially for Dick's. It was similar to the ADL with open sights and the stock shape, although,I can't remember if it had a floor plate or not. I know the old ADL's didn't.Actually,the stock was the worst stock I had seen on any rifle.You really had to look hard for any grain and the wood to metal was very poor class. Now,I am not bashing Remingtons because I have a bunch of them but that rifle would have never left the plant if I was QC.

Your facts sound ok except they have no sights but have a floor plate. I think the wood on mine is very handsome thank you. And the fit is fine. I asked the question before I received it but am now extremely happy to  have it.

Sounds like I may have struck a nerve with you and I am sorry that you took offence.I am happy that you are happy with the one you have as rifles even of the same manufacture have ugly ducklings.The one I examined was pure junk.

The stock on yours looks pretty nice. The one that I looked at was as light as the box that your rifle is laying on,had no grain and was rough to the feel.

I looked at a Model 7 on Cabela's clearance rack, one side of stock was just OK, the other was just awe full. Looked like an amateur job on a piece of Birch. Remington must have went ahead with some really bad wood that day.

Mine is a 300WSM

Seems similar design to the 798. acording to "the Rifleman" those stocks are suposed to be made here with the barreled actions coming over from the Yugo land.
