Craig,#1 longsprings are not a bobcat trap--a good stong one will hold coon , but their are better and more versatile traps on the market today.#1s are okay for gophers, muskrat and mink--in a drowning situation. For my rat line I quit using #1 longs many moons ago and went to the #1 stoploss.  Tom

AKA  dont buy any traps YET!  Join up with the Texas trapping association and get a mentor or go to there rondys and learn by asking  experienced trapper.  Bulletbox  is fm Texas and his email is : bulletbox@hotmail.com

You have to learn the habits of the animal you want to trap and also the best trap and method.  PLUS you have to know your states trapping laws.  You will save alot of time by doing this.  Good Luck

A fish/game officer is NOT a trapper...many of them dont have clue one as to how/where/methods to trap. You need to get ahold of a trapper...not a warden.
Have a good one!!

Craig,RdFx gave you a connection to Bulletbox.Send him an E-mail he will give you much needed info.
As far as #1s go for coon,I have caught a pile of coon in #1s set for rats. The key to coon in #1s is a good strong trap. The #1 coils and #11s do coon very very well, but with the smaller jawspread trap placement must be right on the money.Good staking is also a key,I catch coon and beaver in my #1 stoploss every season. But I also stake my traps verywell. Tom
