The Classic Savage Rifle Swap Turned out Great

About Three weeks ago, on another Gun forum I started a Thread about The Infamous Savage model 219 Single shot Rifle as I had Finally found one in .22 Hornet like new and they are very Hard to Locate. I had a guy from that forum P.M. me and ask if I wanted to swap my 219 Savage in 30-30 caliber which is my Other Model 219 single shot rifle I have had awile, for some Rifles he had to offer. I asked what his Offer of Rifles would be as I have seen a few of the 30-30 219's since I bought mine that were actually in better shape than the One I had. He sent me a List of Six rifles and the One that Got my attention was a Model 99-E in 300 Savage Caliber. I accepted his Swap off of this rifle and he Lives Close to Nashville, so at that Time He wanted to ship his rifle to me and wanted me to ship mine to him. I knew we had an R-K Gun show coming in Nashville which was last weekend so I told him to just meet me there and it would save the shipping Cost's.  We Met, and swapped Last Saturday and I brought the rifle shown home with 12 Rounds of factory Federal ammo he had Included in the deal. I took it to the range yesterday and shot the target shown at the 100 Yard Line. The first Three shot string shot High and 2" To the Left. I over corrected and the Next Three shot Group landed High & 2" to the Right.  I then split my scope adjustment and it shot a Little Low on the Bulls eye area as I was attempting to drop the elevation a Little too much. I had One round left so made my Final scope adjustment and it hit the Bulls eye area as shown. I was Very Pleased at how this Timeless classic shot and Grouped, and I as everyone else wondered if I had made a wise choice swapping off one I knew shot well, But can now rest knowing I got a good one in return...    The 99 is a fine accurate rifle that can do many things well.  The 300 Savage cartridge though not the fastest or flattest can get the job done on most North American game.  Two seasons ago I astounded the hunting camp with a 281 yard neck shot on a nice 9 point whitetail using a barrowed 300 Savage with Rem 180 gr core lock bulets.  Don't let the secret out... You have a darn fine rifle there.

I have read much on this 300 Savage caliber. Savage set out to design this Caliber very close in Velocity to the then 30-06 round  by usiing a rimless case. They did what they set out to do and did it well... Hammerdown

That .300 Savage is so close in performance to the .308 Winchester, that no deer or black bear would ever know the difference.

    I have a 99f in 308 topped with a 2x7 Leupold.  It's my go to gun and I feel the best balance of weight, caliber, range and versatility you could find.  Though I have other rifles in the safe none get carried as much as the 99 and that gun never stays in the safe when there's a hunt on.  I believe Murphy was an optimist so I always take two rifles.
