Field strip or Disassembly for the Henry Lever 22
« on: April 03, 2008, 06:34:46 PM »
There are instructions on disassembling a Henry Golden Boy in " The Gun Digest Book of Rimfire Rifles Assembly/ Disassembly" ISBN 13 :978 0 89689 294 1 or ISBN 10: 0 89689 294 8. Does anyone know if these instructions will work for the regular Henry H001. The manual has instructions for other brands of guns and will list similar models to use same instructions but does not state this for the Golden Boy. The factory manual for the H001 says to clean the bore, chamber, and bolt face and the rest is maintenance free. Those of us who clean semi auto 22 know that there is alot of grit and grime buildup from firing 22's and the idea that only the bolt face will get dirty is kinda hard to believe. I have not fired the H001 yet but still think there will be alot of buildup to clean out behind and around the bolt and in the reciever area. The instructions in the book for the Golden Boy does have quite a bit of steps but looks manageable. Henry sells the large loop levers to be installed at home and this requires breakdown so im thinking breaking down to clean out on a regular basis or at least once every several thousand rounds should be OK. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Because of the blow back action.  Semi-auto .22's get dirtier.
