Well guys I thought I had lucked out and found a 700 vsf in .308 which I did. Well what i was never notified of the gander mountain store in chicago specially ordered the rifle in and the guy who wanted it backed out. Well of course since i found out and wanted the rifle before it was sent out the guy who ordered called the store and decided he still wanted it.

SO basically as you can tell i got screwed. I kind of have my heart set on the .308 lh in a Remington the model i really don't care about so much about. Do you guys have any ideas on where to look for even a bdl or cdl in left-hand since they quit making them? any info appreciated

You're already on the prowl for a left hand SPS Varmint so I say stick with that one and hopefully you'll find one. Sucks that you couldn't get the VSF. The VLS model *might* come in LH versions, try looking for that maybe.

GunBroker has alot of VLS's for sale, even some .308's, but not in Left hand.  Price: $715

GunBroker also has alot of Left Hand Remington rifles for sale, but no .308's.  Every other caliber but .308.

Go figure...

I look at gunbroker alot and the only part that i don't like is that their is not a lay-away plan through most of the sellers. specially with the rifle/rifles i want. The worst part is last night when i search  I found both a vsf .308lh and a sps .308lh. I'm going to go hit sportsman's warehouse, scheels, and gander mountain to see what i can get ordered in. I will have enough money for the sps at the end of next week but not the vsf.

just my 2 cents, but.....if it were me, and I was wanting the VSF, I would keep saving my money until I could get it (assuming you can find a lefty).  I have never regretted waiting to get what I wanted, but have regretted getting a substitute.  I was recently looking for a 22-250 in a VSSFII.  The cash issue had me bogged down and I almost resorted to plan B.  I got all the cash collected, and my wonderful wife decided that it needed to go elsewhere.  So plan C was to start saving again.  I kept looking and finally found just what I was looking for.  It was used (could not tell by looking at it), and the guy held on to it until I again got the cash collected.  I paid a little extra for him to leave the scope on it (Leupold VX-III 6.5-20 with varmint recticle).  I am personally glad that I held out.

Well i did it. went back to gander mountain and asked about the sps varmint in .308. They said that one of their "vendors" had one in this time. SO if i don't receive the rifle this time it will be the last business i ever do with gander mountain. The more I thought about it I really didn't want to pay $900 for a rifle if it did not guarantee the accuracy of at least 3/4 moa out of the box. This way i can actually see myself puting the money into the rifle to have it re-barreled if i dont like the way it shoots but hopefully i wont have that problem.

 What is the proper way of breaking in a rifle? Also what brand/grain of factory loads would you suggest to start out with to see if  can get some descent groupings?

I believe also after purchasedI'mm going to put a IOR 2.5x10 scope on. if your not familiar with the IOR's you should really take a look at them.
