medium 250WFNGC 44mag load for Bisley Hunter
« on: April 07, 2008, 03:17:38 AM »
I am looking for a medium load due to aching hands!

I was looking at the 250Grain WFNGC from Beartooth and was hoping for a powder that filled the casing better than Unique.  The two powders I noticed that seem to get me the 1150-1200fps with a nearly full casing are IMR4227 and H4227.  Anyone with any experience with these or any other load for just under or at 1200.  I prefer a slower powder that fills the casing better than Unique.

Thanks.

Barry
Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

IMR 4227 has given me my best accuracy in a .45 LC Ruger. I think it would be worth trying in a .44. I plan on it myself soon.

I use 17.5 grains 2400 for that purpose. It works fine with cast bullets of 240-250 grains. It's my favorite reduced velocity load.
