anyone developed a nice shooting load for the 300g speer in a guide gun?
looking for an easy shooting but relatively flat trajectory for 50-125 yards

Marlin 1895 45-70
300 grain Speer #2482 seated to 2.53" and crimped with a Lee Factory Crimp Die
Winchester brass, 2.1" trim
CCI 200 primer

45 grains H4198
Approximately 1715 fps and under 17,000 CUP in the 1895G

55 grains H4198
Approximately 2130 fps and under 28,000 CUP in the 1895G

Should be a good shooter somewhere from one to the other.  I shoot the 55 grain load in my 1977-vintage 1895.

H322 is my favorite powder for the 45-70 cartridge...

My load for any 300gr bullet is 54grs H322 this gives excellent accuracy and velocity without coming close to pressures that shouldn't be fired in a Marlin 45-70 rifle.

As always due to liabilities reduce this load by at least 10% and work up be safe... :)
