Rem 700s at WalMart
« on: April 14, 2008, 01:46:29 PM »
Local WalMart has a 700 ADL Synthetic with no sights in 30-06 for $325.  They also have a 243 ADL with sights for $300.

Tempting to buy them both for project guns, or just to speculate on.

Well, If you're looking to build a custom or project rifle, those Wal-Mart ADL's are about the easiest and cheapest way to get a brand new 700 action. You can sell off everything else and go from there...

I have a walmart near me with a Remington 700 in 243 for sale for 325.00 since before Christmas and it is killing me. Synthetic blue with no sights . My buddy has one and we have been shooting crows at ridiculous distance with 75 gr V-Max's. I have a 243 in NEF and believe I can get it to shoot good. I have been trying to believe that for awhile so long in fact I really think that Remington 700 is in danger of being bought and my NEF 243 and 30-06 barrel are going to be sold.Maybe if it is still there after taxes.........

I love my 270. It cost a little more but came with the camo stock and cheap scope.
It's a shooter too.

I just heard on the news today Walmart will be video taping all firearms sales and they will create a computer data base to keep track of all gun sales.  Anyone else think this will nail the coffin shut on Wally World's gun dept?

As long as the deer don't get layers I should be fine.:)

No really though.
I have no intention of doing anything illegal with my guns.

Sounds like a stupid idea that will cost them more to do than it is worth.
Probably a publicity stunt to impress there gun hating customers that will never happen.

Only the FFL holder and the ATF can have any access at all to the records anyways... and they already have the yellow sheet, what else more do they need?  A video camera isn't going to give them any more information, and keeping computer data will just open the records up to hackers.  You lose gun sales records, you lose your right to sell guns.

Hell, maybe they are trying to screw up?

If they want to video a 70 year old man exercising his constitutional rights to give them the finger whilst they film him, it's okay with me.

None of the Wal-Marts around here sell guns any longer. As far as I know all of them in the whole area stopped selling guns and the last time I was in the local super center I didn't even see any ammo on the shelves.

Only the WalMart Super Centers sell guns and ammo around here.  The other WalMarts still sell ammo.

All of the K Marts (Sears) do not sell anything gun related, except hunting supplies.  I have boycotted K Marts on my own.

The anti's are silently winning, and stabbing you in the back.  And the stores don't care about your Constitutional rights either.  They are more worried about their reputation among the Commie whiners.

As far as buying a inexpensive rifle from WalMarts, if it shoots and gets the job done.....

Go for it.  While you can.

By Wal-Mart taping the purchase and keeping information, that would have me saying a BIG NO! That's all I need is for some Wally-World employee to get my information and steal my ID. I think this can only help the small gun shops that Wal-Mart has been hurting the last several years.

I hadn't considered the ID theft, but I think the required paperwork is all any employee at any gun store would need to capture your ID.  Can't imagine what value the video would be except to prove that you were not the person who purchased a firearm that was later used to commit a crime.  Hard to admit, but maybe there is some value to the video taping.

I'm not ashamed of buying a gun.  I do object to more and more unnecessary controls.

Our small gunshops have been making a killing the past few years because the Walmart has about 10 guns and they are all the same. Once these models are gone they get more of the same in. The only gun that they have that is worth anything is the Weatherby Vanguard Sub MOA gun they have for $400 and elsewhere its $600.
