Still Waitin!!!
« on: March 31, 2008, 02:10:06 PM »
Well I've been reading all these posts where guys are advising 3 week turn arounds and having fun with the new barrels. Well mine will be there a month friday and still waiting. It was received there on March 7th and I called today to check the status. I ordered a 22/250 barrel and a 44 mag barrel. I also am getting the trigger job. Customer service advised the hold up is waiting on 44 barrels to be made and shouldn't be much longer. Guess I will be getting a fresh barrel though. Eagerly awaiting range time!!!!

I called ahead to make sure they had 280 barrels in stock.I'm one who had the 21 day miracle.haven't been off of work yet to shoot any but hopefully will be able to in the next few days.Keep waiting because it will be that much sweeter when it does get there. The best part is that I have my gun and they still haven't cashed the check written back in February.Thats what I call service......LOL

Another member just got his 357 back in 22 day, so if they have the barrel in stock, now's the time to send a frame in.  ;)

I was one of the 21 miracles, but I also called ahead to make sure they had a Hornet barrel before sending it in.

Hey all,
New here, and enjoying all the available information, hope I can contribute to this wealth of knowledge at some point.   Sent my SB2 22-250 back for a .204 Fluted and a .45-70 BC, shipped em March 12th, had them back March 28th.  Trigger job and all.  Not sure if this is good or bad.
Trigger feels 1/2 as heavy, and just started shooting the .204

Take care

Pete

Just got mine back today, under 2 weeks total turn around (mailed it the 31st Mar, received it back 4 Apr).  Got two .357 Mag barrels and a trigger job.  I have to say, I am very impressed with this, and the trigger is excellent!  This is all on a SB-2 frame I picked up here.

:(  They got my action on December 12 and I have not gotten it back yet.  I am having three barrels fitted. 30-30, 45/410 and 357 Mag.  Only the 357 was in stock I have been waiting for the last two for months now.  Lots of luck.

The waiting is the worst part.....It looks like your getting some really good barrels though, it makes it a little easier to wait if you getting what you want..Hope their shooters when they get to their new home

Nickss if I was you I would have them fit whatever barrels you wanted that they have in stock because while you are waiting on the 3030 the 357 bbl that they show in stock are disappearing and even though you would think they would have one sitting with your order waiting for the other bbl's it is not . I have been there done that. And even if you call and have them tell you they got your bbl's you have no way to verify that and depending on what 3 people you talk to you will get 3 different answers. The only way to know for sure is tell them to fit the ones in stock and wait to see what ya get. Kurt

I sent a frame in to have a .44 mag barrel fitted. They received it on Feb 3rd. As of today, I still don't have it back. I'm hoping it won't be much longer.

It's right if they're out of barrels, the 30-30 has been out for a while, won't be in stock until June or July.

Just wandering if the apparent shortage of replacement barrels has anything to do with the upcoming closures. Word could have been swirling thru the rumor mill and they didn't want to get caught with an abundance of barrels that would have to be shipped to (poss) the kentucky plant.
Perhaps not but it sure is interesting that some of the more common calibers are in short supply..............Who knows?????

It's not unusual in the least, they run out of barrels regularly, in fact the 30-30 they're out of now was out when I bought mine on ebay 4yrs ago, they were out for at least 6 months IIRC. There's no way for them to predict what barrels are going to be ordered in the accessory barrel program, they may get a run of orders on a particular chambering and be out immediately, or other barrels like the 450 Marlin that don't move for years.

Good News! My frame that H&R has had since Feb. 3rd arrived back here today! Complete with it's new 44 mag. barrel. Don't know when I'll get a chance to shoot it though, with spring field work about to begin. I have about 4 or 5 different factory loads to try and several different handloads. When I get a handle on how it shoots, I'll post back.

If you didn't attach a note to the rfile, the gunsmiths may not have known about the trigger job cuz it didn't get put on the order, or it was already too light. ;)

It had a note attached and there is absolutely no chance that it was already too light!!!!

they just didn't do it. Oh well, they only had it for 6 weeks.

Did ya pay by credit card or check? They charge for some trigger jobs depending on the what the pull weight is, so maybe that was the problem if by check, or the note got detached and lost during fitting. :-\
