Ishy 2a1
« on: April 20, 2008, 02:07:06 PM »
I just came into a sporterized 2A1 rifle with a crisp bore and nice metal overall. I am considering two routs of attack. One is to restore it and the other is to complete the sporterizing job and make it something nice, say in the style of what Epps did with Enfields up in Canada. Who sells the semi'd stocks for the 2A1? I have not found them at the stock suppliers on line. Also who makes a nice scope base, not some big block of metal that puts the scope 3 inches over the barrel.

Not a lot done in this area.. The Enfields are difficult to make look classic.. and the Ishi is just a No.1 with mods to handle the 7.62 round.. Still most stock turners will make sporter stocks for the enfields.. but they're kind of tame.

Many years ago I watched a buddy cut the but socket (No4MkI) off and stock up the resulting action in a one pc stock. I was very impressed at what a light weight handy rifle resulted. It was alot of work however.
