I got a black squirrel today and I was wondering if he would still be prime.

 Not sure what part of the world you are in, but ,I would think they are way past prime. You may just want to tan it and keep it.
 Muskrat and beavers are the last animals to lose their primeness.

 I live in Mn. too. Squirrels are no longer prime. And I believe the season on them is closed till next fall.
