.45/70 land and groove dimensions?
« on: April 17, 2008, 04:30:24 AM »
Does anyone know what the land and grooves specs are for the .45/70 ?

Or if the .45/70 stainless Ultra is still available, and at what price?

Thanks :)

Dunno what the "specs" are, but they are what they are when you slug the bore. ;)

Target production date is May for the SS Ultra 45-70, prices I've seen are  $375-$420.

•  Barrel - 32" with a 1:20 rifling twist
•   Bore -  0.450 and 0.456 grooves ... Per Gordon at the factory a couple of years ago
Bore – Actual 0.4525 and 0.454 grooves ... This is my bore
I shoot 460 diameter lead - Bhn in the 14 -15 range and the rifle likes it!  Must be the shallow grooves

Tim ... Eezox!  Your the 1st person I've heard that uses it besides myself.

JB, I've been using it for about 20yrs, bought a case of it long time ago, just ran out and had to buy some online, no one around here carries it any more, but it's worth it! ;)
