221 rem fireball reduced loads
« on: May 11, 2008, 10:06:54 AM »
Does anyone have any data for reduced loads for the 211 fireball? I have  Alliant unique powder and a boat load of 40 45 and 55 gr bullets.  I was thinking it would be a good way for my nephews, to get used to something other than a 22lr. That and I could Fire form my new brass to my chamber. Just a thought .
can anyone help me?

Here are some links to reduced 221 loads. Look toward the bottom of a couple of these pages to see the reduced loads for the 221 FB. Always be wary of load data that does not come from a reputable house that has not done extensive pressure testing. Good Luck and Good Shooting.

I did not realize when I first posted these that censored word (my insertion) was a taboo place. Probably due to flaky loading data. See my warning above.

You can do a search of your own I used Google and "reduced 221 Fireball loads" to find the above links.

My .221 didn't respond well to the reduced loads I tried in it. Given that the .221 is on the mild side for a .22 cal anyway why not load them up and let them fly. Good hearing protection and even a young child would have no issues with recoil.

stevespages is a cencored word ?

Not that I know of , Steve is still a member here and a lot of us use his site for load data amoung all the other things he has to offer .

On a side note , I tried some of Calhoon's reduced loads in my 223 Handi and was not that pleased with how they shot , group size was over 5 " @ 100 and they shot around 2' lower than the full power loads .

Strange. I shot the recommended loads of BlueDot in two different .223s and they gave moa accuracy with 40-grain Hornadys.  Both had 1:14 twist rates.

Scroll down to "Subsonic and Reduced loads".

I was trying to post a link to the Accurate Reloading site that has a host of reduced loads for the 221 Fireball.   It appears that Accurate Reloading is a banned word here.  So to by pass this censored word nonscence, go to Accurate Reloading and click on "Reloading Pages".  You will find plenty of load data here.

I'm with Skb2706 load' em up. I let my 8 year old grandson shoot mine full load but he's been shooting since 6 he's even been shooting a 243 of his own youth mo. H&R . If you want reduce load get a hornet IMO. You may not want to buy another gun but it would be very little difference in sound with reduce load and not much saving in money. I think the 221fb is great for young kids to shoot it makes a louder sound and very little recoil. It will give the feeling of a larger gun and always use hearing protection
