There's a big yellow tool box at the True Value hardware store that I think works pretty well. Better something that does not shout "GUN", IMO.
Besides, it'll hold a half dozen barrels and a dozen boxes of ammo, plus cleaning supplies.

I have one and it works nice but not with scoped rifles, I hang it on the back of the seat of my pickup with the .357 and .45-70 in it and you really can't tell its there.
