Mine knocks me silly with heavy loads, and I have heavy laminated wood.  Well, not that bad but it is much more uncomfortable to me as a carbine than as a handgun.  Kicks much more than my 10# M98 .45-70, as one would expect.   I like the carbine better as a shooting platform for this cartridge, and I can adjust my loads/powders to reduce recoil to acceptable levels.  Top-end 405-grain Trapdoor loads will get your attention off the bench, not bad in the field.

I love mine with the pistol grips on...but as a carbine it's MURDER(on the wrong end).  Mine isn't comped however.  Walt   :o

I have a plastic stock and a 20" barrel.  It is an absolute blast to shoot.  I have killed hogs, deer, and wild dogs with it.  Okay, i will admit i use light loads in it.  I use Blue Dot behind a 500gr bullet.  It is easy to shoot and with the 500gr slug, nothing has moved after being hit.  The gun only has to kill from one end.  I don't like pain.

Soli,

I too am not a fan of pain...I have mine hooked up to a nice wood stock with a decelerator pad on it.  I shoot up to 405 gr. loads and do not load them that hot.  it is fun to shoot.  It does have a muzzle break on it so that helps too.  Fun to carry and fun to hunt with.  Fearless
