Who wins?
« on: February 26, 2010, 10:10:12 PM »
Sleepy East Texas town, mid-morning, make it April 1875. From the north side of town comes Rooster Cogburn at full gallop, reins in his teeth bangin' away with his Peacemaker and twirlin' his Winchester. From the south side of town, also at full gallop, comes Josey Wales firing two Navy Sixes. There's gonna be a showdown! Who wins?
Duke?
Clint?
They both die?
Maybe they recognize each other from the late war and stop at the nearest saloon to get drunk and talk about old times?

OK, here's the deal -

they reached the town square just as Doc Holliday stumbled out of the Oriental Saloon, coughing up blood. Both horses shied, catching Rooster and Josey off guard, dumping them to the ground. Wyatt and Morgan Earp relieved them of their hardware under the "no guns worn in town" law and gave them 24hours in the slammer for disturbing the piece. Josey beat Rooster at Poker and Rooster out-drank him. Called it a draw!

A little "historical novel license" maybe, probably Kansas.  ;)

There are actually two very simple and easy ways to determine the outcome of any such fictional battle. You could of course just read the script and know the outcome after all that's how the actors know or you could look at the  list of characters and see who's name is on top. They always win when multiple big name stars are involved. Now wasn't that easy.  ;D

YOU GO, Graybeard!

OK Richard, I wasn't paying attention. What were Josey's pistols, Remington's? I do believe they were cap 'n ball.

What were Josey's pistols,

I asked the same question some time back, seeking confirmation of my assessment of the armament.

Yup, But that wasn't the Outlaw Josey Wales.  That was "High Plains Drifter" or one of his other movies like that.   :-\   The one where he was only known as "Preacher."  A real fantasy, he was some kind of reincarnated ghost, had..., um, relations with a friends significant other but turned down a sweet, young, never been kissed, thang flat!   ::)

Nope, my movies got to be believeable, like the OJW...  ;D
