Shoulder pad or hankercheif rolled inside shoulder of jacket

Keeps me from getting tired so fast hiking with a rifle on a sling.  It is hard to hike comfortably with one shoulder sckrunched up to hold the rifle sling. In a pinch, you can use a glove, a rolled up camo mask etc....anything that will make a bump on the end of your shoulder.  This one litttle trick helps you move better with a more natural swing to your arms and your whole body in general, and so, is pleasant to hike, instead of feeling like work.....gives ME a better attitude in general.  Being in the woods should be fun...not hardship.
....make it count

A wise Dave once told me to sew an Army button on my shoulder.  The button acts as a stop to keep the sling where you want it on your shoulder.
