pike fishing

hi new to this forum, and wondering if any of you guys have tried pike fishing with fly rod as i was watching a fellow doin this and thot mmmmm strange lol

Yep sure have. When I go to Canada I always set aside one of the days to try and bust some northerns with the fly rod. Its a blast.

Not so strange at all. If you can find something a pike won't hit... especially a smolt pattern... I'd be surprised. And like 45-70 said, they are a hoot on the fly rod!

Pike are a lot of fun on a fly rod. While most people are happy with a 3# trout on a fly rod; a good sized pike would consider that trout to be a snack! I use 25# Mason Hard Mono as a leader/tippet for pike.
