I'm posting this question here as I use my Encore ProHunter frame with the flex tech stock and a 12 ga. barrel for Turkey hunting. The barrel I purchased last year was one with a vent rib. On occasion, I use this setup to shoot clay's just for fun, and it has proven to be an excellent and accurate shooter!
However, I have wanted to put a red dot on it for those early morning pre-sun up Turkey hunting days when a red dot will do me just a tad better than the ordinary shotgun bead. I had called T\C in the hopes of getting a custom weaver mount....but they tell me none can be had.
So, just the other day I was perusing the internet, and found that Millett makes a vent rib mount set of 1" rings for the 1100\11-87 Remington Shotgun.
http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=618803 Well, I also have this shotgun (the 11-87) and so I measured the vent rib width on both. The T\C vent rib is about 30 thousands wider than the Remington.....but I went ahead and ordered (just now) the rings anyway. I figured they should fit (I don't think Millett is that exacting on their standards) but if not.....a fine file should not only void the warranty......but make 'em fit!!!
So, now my question is.....what do you think the best red dot (with a 1" tube) is that I could put on my T\C shotgun? I'm shooting 3" Hevi-shot which is just like shooting a magnum load, so I'm pretty sure I want to stay away from the $30 Red Dot "cheepies" that may last 10 rounds or so.
Suggestions?
