Broken Forearm lug
« on: May 04, 2008, 05:24:52 AM »
Hey all,

I've been given a project to complete and I'm not sure how.  I've got a Pardner 12ga with the lug broken off the bottom of the bbl.  The owner doesn't want to spend much on it as they bought is for 100$ (took a hosing IMO) a few years ago.

My first thought was to cut a dovetail like I've done on stub/rebarrel rifle projects, but there is not enough material here to work with.

It is a modern SB2 action.

Do I:

Attempt to silver solder?
Fabricate a "bbl band" with a lug on it?
Contact the factory to see if they would repair it for free (or nominal fee)?
Tell the owner he's SOL and will need to have a new bbl fit by NEF for 50$ +/- and shipping?

Or is there another option?

Thanks in advance.
Just my Awf Hand comments...

I'd check with H&R first, they should put it back on for ya, will only cost shipping, might be a good time to send it in for a barrel or three also, maybe a free trigger job.  ;)
