REM 7 CDL 7mm-08
« on: May 03, 2008, 07:45:40 AM »
I finally bought a Remington model seven CDL chambered in 7mm-08 its so sweet lookin gun. I already have a Leupold 2.5-8x36mm scope I will be planning mount on it.  Rem mod. 7 owners, I have a question what kind of base and rings you are using? I have a thought on Leupold's STD base and rings. I am new to Rem 7. Thanks.    Joe

I use Weaver bases and Burris Signature Vee Rings on my exclusively. Going from memory I think the proper bases are #35 front and #421 rear for the newer Model Sevens with four mounting holes. I personally always use the matte finished ones so the proper numbers are #35M and #421M. I have one of the new Model Seven 25th Anniversary 7-08s now that is waiting me getting around to mounting a Leupold VX-III 2.5-8x36 on it which I'll get around to soon hopefully but for sure in time for next season. My M7 CDL .260 already has that combination mounted.

Can one of you guys post some pictures of your Model 7 7mm-08 rifles? I am looking to buy this caliber myself and it sure seems you guys are sold on this Model 7 rifle.

I've not taken any photos of my new one and am not even sure I have any of the older ones I've had. We have one of the originals I got almost 25 years ago when it first came out. That one is now my wife's gun. Here is a photo of the new one I got from Remington's site: Hopefully the images will work.

Thanks for those pictures ... very nice! I looked up the specs and I like the weight and barrel length. I am betting this rifle handles and feels pretty good. I will have to look into this model in my search for my next rifle ... a 7mm-08.

I was looking for a rifle that was small enough for my daughter and found these on the net and traded for one  and put standard Leupold bases and rings on it.  With some handloads I put together with Rem brass, Win LRP primers and IMR 4064 under some 139 grain Hornady Interlock bullets that little gun will shoot.  It cloverleafed three shots at 100 yds, and I almost didn't let her take it home with her.  It is so small, light and quick handling that it is a joy to shoot.
